Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is an American-born British sitar player and music artist. She won the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and also the first female recipient. In addition to receiving nine Grammy nominations, she was also the very first Indian-origin musician to perform during the ceremony live. Anoushka Shakar is a promising young emerging star on the Indian Sitar is Anoushka. She is Ravi Shankar's student as well as his daughter. She was born London in 1982. During her first years she split between London New Delhi. When she was 13 she staged her debut performance in New Delhi. In 2002 she published the book Bapi The love of My Live this is a pictorial biography which pays special honor to her late father Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she was an Bharat natyam young dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar's professional career is continuing to grow and we are likely to see a lot from her in the years to be. Anoushka shankar is an English born singer who travelled her early years between London, Delhi and California. At the age of 9 she began her studies in music with her father. The first time she performed on the Sitar was during her birthday celebrations for her 75th birthday in Delhi, four years after. Accompanying her father as they toured around the globe, Anoushka had a wealth of experiences appearing in Carnegie Hall while still in her teens performing at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival as well as making recordings together with George Harrison. In the end, The House of Commons Shield was given to her from the British Parliament for being the pre-eminent Asian Arts musician. She is the only female and youngest recipient of this distinction.
